POS Management

Cashier logins, shift oversight, sales history, and refunds in one manager view.

What it does

The manager's side of the till: create and disable cashier logins, watch open shifts, force-close a shift someone left open, browse sales history, review per-cashier performance, and issue refunds or voids. A refund normally restocks the items, but a "Return items to stock" checkbox can be unticked when nothing physically came back — a goodwill refund, something damaged or already consumed, or a refunded service.

Why it matters

Whoever is responsible for the cash drawer needs oversight the cashier doesn't have — and a refund needs to reverse stock and the journal entry, not just hand money back. Restocking a refund that never physically returned would overstate inventory on hand and quietly inflate margin.

How to use it

  1. Open Manage POS from the Sales section.
  2. Add a cashier login; the system generates their POS code and PIN.
  3. Review open shifts, and force-close any left open by mistake.
  4. Find a sale in the history and refund or void it — stock and the journal entry reverse automatically.
  5. Untick "Return items to stock" on the refund if the goods didn't actually come back.

Main buttons and actions

  • + Add Cashier
  • Force-close shift
  • Refund / Void sale (with/without restock)

Example workflow

  1. Set up cashier logins once.
  2. Check open shifts through the day.
  3. Handle refunds from sales history rather than as a fresh negative sale.
  4. Review per-cashier performance at period end.
