Point of Sale

Counter checkout with a tap grid, barcode scanning, split tender, and printed receipts.

What it does

A full till: a tap grid of your listed inventory items with photos, barcode scanning (hardware wedge scanner or the device camera), a persistent ticket panel, split cash/card tender, and a printed or on-screen receipt. Cashiers sign in with a short PIN rather than a full account password. A live promotional price shows as a struck-through original price with a Sale badge right on the tap grid. A tracked item with zero stock is greyed out with an "Out of stock" badge and can't be tapped into the cart at all, and tapping toward more units than are on hand stops right at the last one — so a cashier finds out before charging the customer, not after. An item marked Sold by Weight in Inventory (produce, deli, bulk goods) shows its price per weight unit on the tile, and tapping it opens a weight-entry prompt instead of adding one fixed unit - the typed amount becomes the line's exact quantity, and re-tapping the cart line reopens it pre-filled so it can be corrected. For a kg/g or lb/oz item, the prompt adds a small unit toggle so a number read straight off a scale (usually grams) can be typed as-is rather than converted by hand. Receipts print either through the browser's normal print dialog (works with any printer already set up on the device) or, on an Android tablet in Chrome, straight to a paired Bluetooth thermal printer with no dialog at all.

Why it matters

A counter sale that doesn't reach the books is a hole in both your stock count and your revenue. Selling through POS decrements inventory, posts revenue and cost of goods sold to the journal, and lands on the same P&L as every other sale — with no end-of-day re-keying.

How to use it

  1. Enable Point of Sale for the business in Business Settings, then create cashier logins under Manage POS.
  2. A cashier opens a shift, then builds a ticket by tapping items, scanning a barcode, or searching.
  3. Take payment as cash, card, or a split across both, and print or skip the receipt.
  4. On a supported Android tablet, tap the Bluetooth icon once to pair a thermal printer — every sale after that can print directly to it.
  5. Close the shift at end of day to get a cash-up summary against expected takings.
