DocumentationManual Journal Entries

Manual Journal Entries

Post adjusting and correcting entries by hand when routine automation isn't enough.

What it does

A manual double-entry posting screen for the entries no routine workflow generates: depreciation catch-ups, accruals and prepayments, corrections, and year-end adjustments. Entries must balance before they can be posted.

Why it matters

Day-to-day activity posts itself, but an accountant closing a period always needs a few adjusting entries. Without this, those adjustments end up scribbled in a spreadsheet and never make it into the actual books.

How to use it

  1. Open Journal Entries from Bookkeeping (managers and above).
  2. Add debit and credit lines against the right accounts with a description.
  3. Post once the entry balances — it appears in the Journal and Trial Balance immediately.

Main buttons and actions

  • + New Entry
  • Add debit / credit line
  • Post entry

Example workflow

  1. Period end arrives and an adjustment is needed.
  2. The entry is written here against the relevant accounts.
  3. It posts to the same ledger as everything else, and shows in the Trial Balance.
